Our newest member to our little family (as Travis would say lol). Travis has wanted a dog for as long as we have been together. I like dogs.....but I am more of a look but don't touch kind of person. Travis was in Turkey for 3 weeks before Easter and everytime he called he would talk about the fun gifts he had picked up for Austin and I for Easter. I wanted to give him something special, and here she is. I'm not sure whether Travis or Austin came up with the name Sophie but it fit and we can't imagine calling her anything else! She is a Yorkshire Terrier and a Dachshund mix. She is expected to stay under 10 pounds. Travis has had so much fun with her and she is the perfect size for Austin! He loves to pick her up and carry her around.
I feel like I have fallen behind on posting! Life has been so crazy the past 2 months it feels like we don't have a moment to think about any of it! Here is a quick update on our crazy lives!
Travis was in Turkey for a little over three weeks during March and the first part of April. I really had a hard time with having him gone! Travis was afraid that Austin would forget about him.......but when we picked him up from the base he became a total daddy's boy. I don't think Austin wanted to play with me for a week! lol. It was so much fun to watch the two of them together. Travis spoiled us all with gifts from his trip. When I get a chance I will post pics of some of the items he brought back!
Aimee: With this year being so packed with our wedding and moving I put off my ESL (English as a Second Language Endorsement needed to teach in a classroom with students who have a foreign first language) classes until the end of the year. I thought that I could take the whole first year in two months! (10 college credits) Last week I finished..barely! I thought that I was going to die most days teaching school all day and then sitting in class all night! I'm glad that it's over for the year and even more glad that I stuck with it and I am one year away from being done!
Austin: POTTY TRAINING. (Need I say more???) This has been quite the challenge for all of us! He does really well some days and then others not so well. He does really well at telling us when, we just don't make it everytime! Aside from that, his vocabulary has exploded! I love being able to talk to him and for him to talk back. The other day he was playing with Sophie and he said " Mom, it's a good puppy!" My favorite right now is when Travis and I don't get him what he wants right away he'll tell us "I'll get it!" He loves to learn people's names and he will talk about each one every night. Although....we haven't figured out where he has met someone named Debbie...lol.....he talks about her a lot! He is definitely all boy and a lot of fun!
Christmas this last year was really hard for us! I was living in Syracuse;Travis was living in Layton; My parents were in Grantsville; Trav's parents were in Layton. We hit both parents houses and did presents and dinner all in one day! All 3 of us were in bed at 8! After this experience we decided that we wanted Easter to be a little more mellow.....So we invited Everyone to our house! It was a lot of work but it was so nice to have everyone at our house! It was even more special because my Grandpa and Granma Butler came too! As an Easter gift for our guests Travis and I took Austin to get his pictures done and had collages made at Kiddie Kandids for each set of grandparents. Here are a couple of the picturees we had taken. The last 3 were used in the collage.
